In 2013 my health took a dive,

I jumped from doctor to doctor, enlisting the help and advice of everyone from naturopaths to iridologists and was diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue and Leaky Gut Syndrome.

My energy was at an all time low, and I can remember playing with my son in his bedroom whilst laying on the floor because I was too exhausted to sit up. My digestion was terrible and overall my body felt like it was ‘broken’.

I had heard about The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) from a few of the health blogs I was reading at the time and my interest was piqued. Whilst I valued the help and support I was getting from each of the health professionals I had enlisted, a large part of me felt I was giving my power away and I made it my mission to educate myself and really understand what my body needed.

In 2014 I enrolled with IIN and immediately I was blown away by the course content. I loved that it educated me about a holistic approach to wellness and aside from covering over 100 different dietary theories, a large component of the curriculum teaches you that healthy relationships, regular physical activity, a fulfilling career, self care and a spiritual practice are all ‘Primary Foods’ and the food that we actually eat is Secondary Food.

If any one of these are out of balance it can have a great impact on your health and wellbeing.

IIN is a year long course and while they are based out of New York, the course is delivered solely online and takes one year to complete. I loved the flexibility that this gave me, to complete the course material at the times that best suited me.
